A buyer's guide to Indian black pepper powder — Malabar, Tellicherry and MG1 grades, piperine content, quality parameters and pricing for bulk import.

Indian Black Pepper Powder: The King of Spices, Finely Ground
India has been synonymous with black pepper for centuries. Kerala and Karnataka produce the finest pepper varieties, and Indian black pepper powder export continues to command a premium in global markets.
Grades Behind Our Powder
Tellicherry Grade (TGSEB) — Premium grade with the highest piperine content (5-7%) and a bold, aromatic flavour. Named after the port town of Thalassery in Kerala. Commands the highest price.
Malabar Grade (MG1) — Standard export grade with piperine of 4-6%. The most commonly traded grade globally, with an excellent balance of flavour, aroma and price.
MG2/MGEB — Economy grade with lower piperine, widely used for food-processing powders.
Quality Specifications
Key parameters for black pepper powder: piperine content (4-7%), moisture (max 12%), extraneous matter (max 1%), mesh size and colour uniformity. All powder should be free from mold, insect damage and foreign odours.
