FSSAI & APEDA Certification: What Spice Importers Should Know
Understand why FSSAI and APEDA certifications matter when choosing an Indian spice supplier. Key compliance requirements explained for international buyers.
Why Certifications Matter in Spice Trade
When importing spices from India, verifying your supplier's certifications is critical for food safety compliance and customs clearance. Here's what every buyer should know about the two most important certifications.
FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India)
FSSAI is India's food safety regulator. A valid FSSAI license means the supplier's facility meets hygiene, safety, and quality standards mandated by Indian law. FSSAI license number should appear on all product packaging and export documents.
ASJK Laxmi Global's FSSAI License: 10018022007595
APEDA (Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority)
APEDA registration is mandatory for exporting agricultural products from India. It ensures the exporter is authorized by the Government of India and can issue required export documentation including RCMC (Registration-cum-Membership Certificate).
Additional Certifications to Look For
IEC (Import Export Code) — Mandatory for all Indian exporters. Spices Board Registration — Additional quality assurance. ISO 22000 — International food safety management. Organic Certification — Required for organic spice exports.
